Some music I liked in 2018

After writing a decent sized Facebook post about my Spotify, end of the year playlist, I figured why not go the extra mile to share some of these great albums from Spotify. If I get a chance I also plan on talking about some of my favorite books, podcast, and films from this year, as well as a list of games I wish I had time to play.

I would have never guessed Kanye West would be my most played artist this year, until I remembered that we would play Ultra Light Beam every day for KJ when Theresa was still preggers. Also love seeing All the Stars in the top songs as it was the first song that would make KJ kick for us!

As far as my favorite albums from 2018 I would have to go with:

5. Leon Bridges - Good Thing

As good as soul music gets in 2018, was definitely my favorite album to put on whenever we had company.

4. The Black Panther OST

New music from Kendrick Lamar is always a good thing, and I will always associate this album with Theresa's pregnancy. So many good times!

3. Pusha T - Daytona

Probably my favorite of the Kanye West produces albums from this year. Pusha T is one of the best rappers in the business, and this seven song tour de force was the best rap album of the year.

2. Jeff Rosenstock - Post-

If you thought rock was dead, here is an album that will be a balm for the soul. Rosenstock captures everything I love about the genre in 2018 - his music is earnest, driving, and unpretentious. Just great stuff.

1. Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever - Hope Downs

Look, 2018 was a stressful year in which we bought a house, had a baby, survived the mid-terms, and somehow landed on our feet. Sometimes in life you just need to chill the F out with some surfer guitars playing over slightly subdued, if not outright melancholic lyrics.

Some other albums I liked quite a bit: Kurt Vile - Bottle It In, Courtney Barnett - Tell Me How You Really Feel, Parquet Courts - Wide Awake, Anderson .Paak - Oxnard, Hop Along - Bark Your Head Off, Dog, Travis Scott - Astroworld, Mitski - Be The Cowyboy, Father John Misty - God's Favorite Customer
